Hello and welcome!
I am a Queer and Non-Binary Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I am also a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I am currently offering online and in-person services to individuals ages 13+. Whether you are navigating trauma or loss; experiencing tension in a relationship; or exploring your sexuality or gender identity I am here to support you on your journey to develop deeper self-awareness and self-compassion. Through curiosity, collaboration and compassionate support, I can help you find your way to a life of empowerment, authenticity and connection. I am currently welcoming new clients at my office in Truro Nova Scotia.
My approach draws on a range of modalities including Art Therapy, somatic practices, Emotionally Focused Therapy and trauma responsive care. My objective is to provide therapy that is aligned with your goals and values. There are many complexities to life that can make it difficult to feel connected to your authentic self. Together, we can explore the challenges you are facing and help you connect to your inherent capacity for healing and growth.
I offer affirming services to folks who identify as part of the Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ communities, meaning I am open and comfortable discussing topics relating to gender expansiveness, sexual orientation, polyamory and ethical non-monogamy. I also work with Neurodivergent people, whether diagnosed or not. I take a disability justice oriented approach and provide guidance and support around advocacy. I also do my best to accommodate sensory needs within my office, if you have any accessibility concerns or questions, I would be happy to discuss them with you. Throughout my career I have had extensive experience supporting people who live with Anxiety, Depression, OCD, and Bi-Polar. I am deeply attuned to the ways that systemic factors influence the lives of people who have marginalized or stigmatized identities and seek to find avenues for authentic expression, safe relationships and empowerment.
I recently completed Tier 2 of the National Farmer’s Mental Health Alliance’s Agriculturally Informed Therapy training. This training is designed to give clinicians the tools and information to equip them to support farmers, farm workers and those who are involved in agriculture industries. This training has helped me connect with my own farming roots and given me insight and practical skills to support clients from agricultural backgrounds. Depending on your needs and goals for therapy, I am dedicated to working with you towards greater satisfaction, better relationships and renewed confidence in your vital role in Nova Scotia’s agricultural community.
Curious about Art Therapy? Art Therapy utilizes the sensory and visual aspects of art making to aid in the therapeutic process. Art making can be a tool for grounding and relaxation, while offering a tangible outlet for self expression. Through non-verbal communication and visual processing, Art Therapy provides new perspectives that talk therapy cannot. I often invite clients to explore Art Therapy when words fall short to describe emotional experiences, or when talk therapy starts to feel stuck or overwhelming. No prior art making experience is required and you are never obligated to use arts based interventions.
All clients interested in working with me are encouraged to book a free 15 minute phone consultation. This conversation will provide you space to share why you are seeking therapy and what your goals are. You are also welcome to ask any questions you have about my approach or services. I look forward to hearing from you!
